The contest will consist of 2 rounds, with two songs in the first round and one song in the second, for a total of 3 songs.
Eliminations will take place after the first round, with 3 couples remaining for the final round.
Couples must dance East Coast, Modern, Charleston, and/or Lindy Hop.
Lifts and Aerials are permitted and encouraged for the Invitational, however if the partner is dropped during an aerial the couple may be disqualified at the judges’ discretion.
Contestants will be judged on the following criteria:
Smoothness and Musicality
This includes chemistry with your partner, how well you transition between moves or styles, and how well you match your dancing to fit the music.
Footwork and Precision
This includes being on beat with the music as well as demonstrating ability in whatever your preferred style(s) are. The styles being judged are Lindy, East coast, Modern, and Charleston. You may pull footwork and stylizations from other types of dances for flair, but they will not be counted in this category.
This category can best be summed up as the "WOW" factor. Moves that catch and hold the attention of the judges. While aerials are not required, this category is generally dominated by them as they are the biggest and flashiest moves.
1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers will receive passes to the 2016 American Lindy Hop Championships in Detroit. Passes include admission to all the dances and classes, as well as entry into any of the competitions.
